Detours Recommended 🚧 Saturday March 10
Planning to drive in or through the Highlands or downtown on Saturday? We have classes in the morning, rehearsals in the afternoon, and two performances of Circe and Ulysses at 2pm and 7:30pm that will be affected. Please read on for details.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The Highlands will be at a standstill traffic wise-for much of Saturday for the annual St. Pat’s Parade. Bardstown/Baxter will be closed to traffic from noon to 8pm from Windsor (near Midcity Mall) all the way to Broadway. Most major cross streets will remain open except during the parade.
Parade is 3-5pm. Cross streets will NOT be open while the parade is on.
If coming from the Highlands, we recommend using the Willow—> Cherokee Pkwy—> Grinstead—> Lexington—> Payne route to get here. Cherokee Rd (the one parallel to Bardstown Rd.) will be closed 3-5pm where it intersects Baxter Ave, and while it will be otherwise open the crowds looking for parking will make this very slow. Barret will be closed from Broadway to Baxter until 7pm, so that shortcut *might* work depending on timing.
Also on Saturday is the Anthem 5k in downtown Louisville. The route is roughly a circle bounded by Brook, Chestnut, 9th, and Main. Please allow extra time from points west of downtown, and use Broadway to get around it.
