In this class, returning for Spring 2011, students learn from Actors Theatre of Louisville education staff how to transform imagination into characters and dialogue and action. All by writing monologues, dialogues and short plays. Students create and act in new works that speak authentically in their own voice.
Students enrolled in another Conservatory class are welcome to take New Voices Playwriting at no additional cost. Others are invited to take the class by itself with a fee for the semester.
Walden’s internationally renowned program has produced six published scripts and has been a part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Humana Festival of New American Plays. Now, in partnership with Actors Theatre of Louisville, the class will also help guide works into the Actors Theatre of Louisville New Voices Festival featuring great plays by Kentucky youth in addition to Walden’s own annual Young Playwrights Festival which has showcased the best works developed during Walden Theatre’s playwriting classes for many years.
