On Wednesday April 22, Walden Theatre/Blue Apple Players and the National Center for Families Learning are hosting a Family Learning Evening featuring special guests from the Department of Education. This event is not open to the public, but we’re very proud of our association with the National Center for Families Learning and we want to sustain this partnership by doing our part. Thus, the volunteers-only request.
In prep for this event we need volunteers to help us assemble dinners for attendees on Tuesday morning from 10am-noon and Wednesday from noon-4pm right here at Walden Theatre (1123 Payne St.). We’ve posted a signup here:

We understand that this is a late request, but family attendance for this event has swelled considerably. Here’s information about the event:
U.S. Department of Education Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Early Learning, Libby Doggett, as well as Dr. Brenda Girton Mitchell, director of the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Education will be among our special guests as part of this National Center for Families Learning and Walden Theatre/Blue Apple Players early childhood learning program.
This Family Learning Evening is part of a collaborative project with NCFL and WT/BAP in partnership with Jefferson Co. Public Schools that engages Pre-K students, their teachers, and families at 22 JCPS Early Learning Centers in multiple learning components. We are grateful for support from PNC Grow Up Great, the Sutherland Foundation, Metro Louisville External Agency Grants, JCPS, volunteers, and others.
Thank you for your attention and hope to see you soon.
