Henry VI
Parts 1, 2, & 3

Walden Theatre/Blue Apple Players is proud to present in repertory the three hugely popular plays that cemented Shakespeare’s reputation as the preeminent playwright of his day.

The trio of Henry VI plays chronicles The Wars of the Roses—a bloody period of deception, military threats from without & within, and profound uncertainty for the English throne. King Henry ascended the throne at a young age, and his pious, withdrawing manner combined with the losses suffered in France to Joan of Arc precipitated a desperate contest for power between the rival houses of York and Lancaster.

These plays are the original Game of Thrones, and author George R. R. Martin has acknowledged the debt his medieval HBO epic owes to the people, motivations, and brutality of these English conflicts.

The Young American Shakespeare Festival is the oldest and largest such festival by and for young people in the nation, and it concludes the company’s 40th anniversary season. In 2017, the company will complete the Shakespeare canon, becoming one of the very few theatres in the country that can claim this accomplishment.

On the final day of the Festival, audiences can see all three plays—in order—for just a $15 ticket. Plays begin at 12:30, 4:00, and 8:00pm, and we’ll have entertainment and activities between the shows.
