CTC’s Walden Theatre Conservatory thrives on accessibility to families of all backgrounds. As part of our commitment to sustaining access, the organization awards significant need-based financial aid to students.
The Kentucky Social Welfare Foundation has been an essential part of this effort throughout 2019, awarding CTC a $10,000 grant to remove barriers to arts access for between 25-50 young people.
The Kentucky Social Welfare Foundation grant was timely, too. With class enrollments constantly growing and more students from diverse cultural and income backgrounds joining the Walden Theatre Conservatory, this award helped stretch the amount of need-based aid the organization can offer every semester. Already, 30% of Conservatory families request tuition assistance.
Commonwealth Theatre Center provides world-class theatre education and training at a tiny fraction of the cost of comparable programs based at arts boarding schools. Making these programs available while continuing to knock down barriers to access like finances is always a challenge. Thank you to the Kentucky Social Welfare Foundation for this important support!
