POSITION:  Maintenance Associate

Status:  Part-time (avg. 20 hrs./wk.), non-exempt; flexible schedule

Pay:  $15/hr.

Reports to:  Technical Director

General Facility Responsibilities:

  • Perform facility-related tasks as needed to ensure facility is safe, secure, and optimal for program administration, including regular maintenance tasks (i.e. cleaning, organizing, lawn & landscaping maintenance, stocking supplies, removal of trash & recycling, etc.), as well as occasional as-needed maintenance tasks (i.e. snow removal & salting sidewalks, cleaning & decorating in preparation for events, setting up classrooms, minor building repairs, etc.)
  • Manage work order requests and oversee vendors and contractors engaged in facility-related projects.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and keep shop, backstage, storage, and all common areas of facility organized. 
  • Keep grounds free of clutter & debris.
  • Help ensure facility is adhering to relevant codes and best practices for the safety and security of CTC students, staff, and guests.
  • Assist in managing volunteers, including students, on site to perform facility-related tasks, including ensuring they have the supplies & information they need to perform tasks successfully & efficiently, as well as provide a welcoming environment for their work.
  • Act as staff representative responsible for facility function & safety when outside groups use the space, as needed and determined by Technical Director, Managing Director, and/or Artistic Director.
  • Attend staff meetings, as well as event planning meetings & production meetings as needed.
  • Other related duties as needed and assigned.

Technical Theatre Responsibilities:

  • Assist in construction of sets, as determined by Technical Director and/or Conservatory/Production Coordinator.
  • Assist in design and development of lighting and/or sound for productions, as determined by Technical Director and/or Conservatory/Production Coordinator.
  • Other related duties as needed and assigned.


  • Physically demanding position that includes routine lifting, climbing, and other strenuous activities. Caution and fitness are necessary.
  • Previous facilities maintenance/management experience preferred, including knowledge of janitorial, plumbing, light carpentry, and basic tools. Technical theatre experience would be a bonus.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and background check clear of significant offenses relevant to this position.
  • Includes some evening & weekend work, as needed to successfully perform responsibilities listed above.
  • Must comply with all health & safety rule and precautions determined by the organization under the guidelines of local, state, and national officials.
