Imagination Junior Academy

- Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting messy and shoes that will stay on. (No flip-flops.)

Mystery on Aesop Island
Kids bring characters and a story to life through theatre—igniting a child’s creativity and giving them the skills and confidence to perform the song-filled play developed by our team of theatre professionals. Kids learn the basics of acting through exciting activities including movement, tableaux, and pantomime for culminating performances on the final Friday and Saturday for family & friends!

- Option 1 – $375 full payment due with registration form
- Option 2 – $415 ($120 deposit due with registration form ; $295 balance due on or before first day of program)

Children may enroll in one or both of these programs.
- Wear comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting a little messy and shoes that will stay on. (No flip-flops.)
- Sleeping bag/mat or a contained, comfortable surface for rest time.
- A marked lunch and snacks.
- Preschool students will NOT have access to drink and snack machines during camp hours.
- Bring a laundry basket for projects/props and an art smock that can stay in the classroom during the week.
- Please no electronic devices (photo/video/game/music), jewelry, excessive cash, weapons, or chewing gum.
These introductions to theatre follow the process drama model – children use creative expression and role-play to act out a story together with our Teaching Artists as guides. Children learn about acting in a non-competitive and nurturing environment, focusing on the experience of play. Our day will include enrichment time, where children may select from a variety of activities deepening their connection to early literacy and school readiness skills.

Laura Patterson is former resident costume designer at Actors Theatre of Louisville and has designed costumes for Walden Theatre’s productions of Summer and Smoke, The Liar, Summer Brave, Titus Andronicus, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Learned Ladies, Love’s Labour’s Lost, The Crucible, Of Mice and Men, Holy Ghosts, The Winter’s Tale, Misalliance, The Time of Your Life, King Lear, Tartuffe, Playing For Time, Summer and Smoke, Picnic, Pride and Prejudice, The Crucible, Charley’s Aunt, Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest, and Hamlet. Patterson holds a BFA in Set & Costume Design from Syracuse University and an MFA in Costume Design from Boston University. Her designs for Actors included Dracula, Corpse, I Hate Hamlet, Shadowlands, 1969, Betty the Yeti, Sherlock Holmes, To Kill a Mockingbird, Keely and Du, Stanton’s Garage, La Bete, The Beaux’ Strategem, The Heidi Chronicles, Prelude to a Kiss, Quartermaine’s Terms, and Picnic, as well as many Humana Festival plays. Patterson has worked at the Dallas Theatre Center, Syracuse Stage, Stage West, Huntington Theatre Company, and Houston Grand Opera, and her work has been shown in Prague, Czechoslovakia. A Walden Theatre alumna, she’s married to Walden Theatre’s Artistic Director, Charlie Sexton, and they have two sons, Aaron & Ian.
An opportunity to explore, experiment and create pieces of art using a variety of materials and techniques—which may include drawing, painting, sculpture, mask-making, paper mache, junk art, and more. All art materials are provided and kids bring home creations at the end of the week.
